Jar of Hope
The Jar of Hope Story…
When we first started this project in 2021, we collected 48 empty coffee bottles and filled it with a mixture of pasta, rice, beans, soup mix, and a stock cube. A friend found this recipe on the internet, and we decided to make it our winter project.
By simply adding water, a large family could be fed by one of these filled jars. As they say, food brings hope. Therefore, we labelled it “Jar of Hope”.
These bottles were distributed to needy families around us, as well as two church groups close by who applied it fruitfully. Since then, our project has grown more than threefold!
With the help of a generous friend who is a chef, this year we packed ingredients for a nutritious and good-looking soup into our recycled coffee bottles! We managed to fill a total of 180 bottles.
Some bottles were handed out to those in need in our immediate environment. The balance of the bottles were handed over to other organisations to distribute it to those in need in their environments.
